So honored and thrilled to be a part of artist Lara Schitnger’s two day program at the Hammer Museum on Sunday. Swing by, everyone!

I will be giving a lecture on the practices of contemporary witchcraft. Following that, I will lead a closing ceremony created in collaboration with Lara to activate her Suffragette City sculptures.

The ceremonial performance is called “Yes Means Yes!” and was inspired by the movement within feminist circles to celebrate women’s enthusiastic sexual consent.

“Yes means yes,” celebrates the idea of co-creative active participation in our relationships, sexual and otherwise.

“Yes means yes” is performed in the spirit of witchcraft because, as every witch knows, it is our intention that makes our magic work.

Here our intention is say yes to love, yes to collaboration, yes to the power of women, yes to women controlling their own bodies, and yes to women’s taking pleasure in themselves, their partners and their world.

Sunday’s event will also include a film by Kerri Koch on the history of the Riot Grrl movement, another film by Martha Wheelock on the famous suffragette Inez Milholland, join us!
